Tussle has been a primarily female-led film. All three attached companies - SkyeAngel, GARO and CANADA - have female founders, and Tussle’s place in Forte reinforces this, as the collection is focused on two young women’s agentic awakenings. In Tussle, Eliza finds agency through physical force; in the second Forte film, Tonos, the female lead finds it through singing.

We wanted this to be a female-driven story not just internal to the script, but also as something that was reflected in the team that we built. This ethos carried through to our crews, where the majority of our heads of department on the film have been women: our gaffer, costume designer, production designer, hair and make-up, editor.
