Tussle is about showing that sport can be a fantastic mental health outlet - through physical movement and the communities associated - but this also needs to be paired with personal reflection and emotional processing.
We were delighted to partner up with the Roger Gracie Academy in Hammersmith, one of the most famous BJJ gyms in the world, to shoot Tussle. Mauricio Gomes, known as the “Godfather of Jiu Jitsu”, and Roger Gracie’s dad - kindly agreed to play in Tussle as Eliza’s coach. This was a very meaningful addition to our cast, as Mauricio is a beloved figure in the community and essentially brought BJJ to the UK.
We want to reach as many young people with this film and show them that while it is great to use your emotions constructively, it is also important to feel them.
